Born on July 31st, 1994 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Symere Woods, better known by his stage name Lil Uzi Vert, is arguably one of the biggest faces of the new age of Hip-hop music. Uzi first gained recognition with the release of the single “Money Longer”, and mixtape Luv Is Rage.
However, Uzi’s collaboration on the hit single “Bad and Boujee”, and especially the solo single “XO TOUR Llif3”, gave Uzi significant popularity and exposure, peaking at #1 and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 respectfully. After his first mixtape, The Real Uzi, Uzi added “Vert” to the end. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Uzi described the meaning of “Vert” as “straight to the top, like a vertical leap.
On August 25th, 2017, Uzi released his highly-anticipated debut studio album, Luv Is Rage 2, the sequel to his 2015 commercial mixtape, Luv Is Rage. The album peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200, and was supported by the singles “XO Tour Llif3”, “The Way Life Goes”, and “Sauce It Up”.
Uzi takes influence from a number of rappers, however, he sparked controversy in an interview on Hot 97 when he made it clear that he considers himself a rock star. He continued to elaborate on the influence Marilyn Manson has had on his career, something that is quite unorthodox in the hip-hop genre.
Uzi's last album release was on December 13, 2017 when he released his debut studio album Luv Is Rage 2. With that being said, that means it has been almost three years since he has released an album. Uzi's next album release is titled Eternal Atake, however the album has been delayed multiple times due to leaks and problems with Atlantic Records.
However, Uzi is expected to release Eternal Atake sometime in the following months of 2020. Although there has been no official release date announced.
