Omar Pineiro (born May 15, 1997), known professionally as Smokepurpp, is an American rapper from Miami, Florida. Purpp released his first music video "It’s Nothin" with Lil Ominous on September 23, 2014. Pineiro initially found success on the audio distribution platform SoundCloud in 2016 after his song "Ski Mask" and "Audi" went viral.
Originally a producer, Purpp is one of the most known figures of the movement due to his influence on artists such as Lil Pump who have since entered the mainstream music market.
In March 2017, Purpp signed to Interscope Records and Alamo Records. Following this, he announced his debut mixtape on March 9, 2017 on the social media platform Twitter.
Smokepurpp released his debut commercial mixtape Deadstar on September 28, 2017, and the mixtape peaked at number 42 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The mixtape included features from artists such as Chief Keef, Juicy J and Travis Scott.
On November 8, 2017, Purpp was on the MTV show TRL, where he announced that he has a collaboration mixtape coming soon with Murda Beatz titled Bless Yo Trap. He later released 2 singles from the mixtape called 123 and Do Not Disturb, the latter which featured Lil Yachty and Offset from the Migos. The mixtape "Bless Yo Trap" was released on April 13, 2018.
Purpp dropped his long awaited debut studio album "Deadstar 2" on December 13, 2019; with features such as Denzel Curry, Lil Pump and more. His next project will be titled "Florida Jitt" and was announced at Rolling Loud Miami 2019. It is set to drop directly two months after the release of Deadstar 2.
